Special Series: Health Equity and Getting the Care You Deserve
It's getting harder to get good care. We're here to help
We know that breast cancer care in the U.S isn’t equitable. Some people will get later and more serious diagnoses because of their race. Others won’t live as long because of their income. And some people won’t even know what breast cancer screening they need because they don’t have access to reliable information. The list goes on.
We at Breastcancer.org have always covered these stories. But in the past year the stories have gotten more common and more concerning. We’ve watched as research, services, and insurance coverage have been cut back, defunded, or dismantled. And we’ve seen misinformation sprout up where clear and unbiased medical information has fallen away. It’s becoming harder to get good care — harder to find it, harder to make sense of it, and harder to pay for it.
For this special series, we’re covering the issues that are keeping high-quality, affordable, and compassionate breast cancer care out of reach for far too many. In this time of intense change and high costs, we’re here to help you make sense of the confusing news timeline and provide you with more resources — so you can get the care you need.
