Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for Lung Metastasis
Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) precisely targets high-dose beams of radiation at the cancerous areas in the lung, minimizing exposure to healthy tissue nearby.
SBRT for lung metastasis is performed as a series of treatments over time. The tumors are mapped in advance using imaging scans so that the doctor knows exactly where to deliver the radiation. SBRT can treat small- to moderate-size tumors. You may hear SBRT described with brand names such as CyberKnife or GammaKnife. This technology is not available everywhere, so check with your doctor.
